Hello and Welcome back to a brand new episode on the Being Meraklis Podcast. In today’s episode we have an amazing speaker, Unnati Bharadwaj from, The Thought Co.
Unnati Bhardwaj is a Counselling Psychologist at The Thought Co. an organization that works towards emotional and mental health care for all. At TTC she works with individuals with varying concerns, particularly with individuals who are a part of the queer community. Her area of practice is a reflection of her interest that is to enhance the literature and deepen ones understanding of the therapeutic relationships through a queer lens. Over the years Unnati has done a lot, something that stands out is her training by the Samaritans Mumbai as a support person for Suicide Prevention and her training as Queer Affirmative Practitioner by the Mariwala Health Initiative. Unnati believes in the mind-body connection, and integrates it into her practice to create more intuitive mental healthcare strategies.
Unnati has been a passionate voice for the rights of the LGBT community for a while now. So when we got talking about what we could collaborate on for the podcast, we realized that with June being Pride Month, there probably couldn’t be a more apt topic.
All of us consider ourselves open-minded and accepting of all kinds of people in the world, but when it comes down to our actions, we are mostly neutral. We refrain from taking affirmative stands or coming out in support of a community openly for several reasons which we are not going to delve into today.
Instead, today we are going to speak about “Making our minds Queer Affirmative.” Tune in to this insightful episode to open up our minds and make a conscious effort to ensure we provide room for every individual to express themselves wholly and completely.
